25 Years of Great Ocean Road flights

Tiger Moth World is excited to be celebrating 25 years of flying high along the magnificent Great Ocean Road.

Founded in 1990 by former airline pilot, Randy Walsh and his wife Sandra, Tiger Moth World has flown over 45,000 happy customers in a fleet of vintage open cockpit biplanes plus faster modern aircraft. The newest addition is an impressive WW2 vintage open cockpit Boeing Stearman – Bigger is better!

Tiger Moth World is very much a family run business with son, James, now running the business on a daily basis. Their former pilots are now the Captains of major airlines – including Cathay, Qantas, Jetstar & Virgin. “Everyone always asks me if I want to fly airlines one day?” James says. “Yes, that’s the goal but it’s hard to get away from putting a smile on everyone’s face while upside-down over Bells Beach. Everyone loves it! And, you definitely get a kick out of making someone’s day. I’ve lost count of the times someone has said ‘That’s the best thing I’ve ever done!’”.

Tiger Moth World not only provides a truly unique experience for visitors but they also strive to provide the best possible service. They are proud to have been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the last 2 years running. These awards are presented to restaurants, accommodation providers and attractions that receive continuous, excellent travel reviews on the TripAdvisor website.

With the weather warming up and more people visiting the coast every year, the team is looking forward to another busy Summer. A lot has changed over the past 25 years but Tiger Moth World is happy staying stuck in the past – flying WW2 biplanes from their purpose built airfield in Torquay. Nothing compares with the thrill of flying in an open cockpit biplane over the spectacular Surf Coast.
